Wifi 7 routers are starting to appear in Malaysia’s gadget stores. But do you really need one? Most Malaysians are just getting used to Wifi 6 (AX).
The Difference
Wifi 6: Standard now. Great for 500Mbps-1Gbps Unifi/Time plans. Handles multiple devices well.
Wifi 7: Insane speeds (up to 46 Gbps theoretical). Lower latency. Useful only if you have Wifi 7 devices (S24 Ultra, high-end laptops).
Verdict for 2025
Stick to a high-end Wifi 6 or 6E router (like TP-Link Archer AX73) for now. Wifi 7 is too expensive (~RM 1500+) and unnecessary for most Malaysian internet plans.
